About the Sisterhood

Bet Aviv Sisterhood creates a supportive community in which women can grow intellectually, spiritually, personally and have fun in the process. Our programs are as diverse as our members. As diverse as an update on the Israeli peace process, learning Passover songs and sharing favorite recipes, or exploring Jewish genealogy. One of Sisterhood's most popular activity is Book Club which meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every other month at a member's home. In addition, we recently formed a Rosh Chodesh group to celebrate Jewish issues of importance to women based on monthly themes.

Our social activities satisfy a wide range of interests, as well, from a production of Shakespeare, to Karaoke Night, to our annual Progressive Dinner. On a chlly November evening we celebrated with an evening of "Tapas and Salsa".

Bet Aviv's Sisterhood engages in community service by, for example, donating toys for needy children at Elkridge Elementary School; creating "Welcome Baskets" for new synagogue members; organizing a sisterhood Shabbat, among other activities.

And, as part of Women of Reform Judaism, an organization with more than 100,000 members in North America, we are involved with WRJ's impressive social action programs.

Membership in Bet Aviv's Sisterhood is open to the community. You do not have to be a member of Bet Aviv to join.

For more information about joining Bet Aviv's Sisterhood, please feel free to get in touch with Shirley Beaser or contact us.
